Barbus oligolepis
Barbus oligolepis is a ray-finned fish species in the family Cyprinidae. It is endemic to Turkey.
Its taxonomic history has become entangled with that of the Checker Barb (Puntius oligolepis) ofIndonesia, described as Capoeta oligolepis by Pieter Bleeker in 1853 and subsequently often placed in Barbus. But this is not correct, and thus, even though the "true" B. oligolepis was only described in 1941, it can retain its original name.I decided it was time for a switch in my aquarium, and tried to stay away from Barbs because I had had two that were just, quite frankly, mean! I was at the pet store and fell in love with Checkered Barbs, and brought two of them home. They're one of the most peaceful barbs, and they are sooo adorable! I would recommend them as a small addition to any aquarium
