Barbus fasciatus

Barbus fasciatus

Colouration varies from season to season. At times this is found in our local fish stores as a tan to light brown colour having chevron like, light black bands with whitish posterior edges running along the length of the body. Like other members of this family the pectoral fins have a whitish tip to them and the usual distinctive hyaline arc in them. With the body being covered in quite fine granulations. On some occasions these enter our local fish stores showing a rich ruddy red colouration with the light black chevron fading into the background and the white edges becoming more prominent, this is down to seasonal changes in diet, and when these are kept for any length of time in captivity they quickly revert back to the light tan to brown colour
