Ammonia and nitrite will be building up very quickly and are a threat to the lives of the two fish you have now. Don't be afraid to change a lot of water. 50% every other day for the first month. Yes I do know that sounds crazy to you but you have to keep the toxins at a safe level until the bacteria establish them selves in the filter. Don't clean your filter at all the first 6 weeks, just do the water changes. The most important thing about water changes is keeping the Ph exactly the same and also the temperature within 5 degrees. During the first month feed your goldies every other day just once, all they can eat in 3 minutes. Underfeeding will not hurt them. Over feeding at this time can be deadly. After the tank has cycled, when readings for ammonia and nitrite have risen then fallen to zero.
